Wandering the Valley of the Kings Made Me Feel Like Indiana Jones There’s something surreal about walking into the tomb of King Tut himself. The wall art, the history, the eerie quiet—it was all incredible. We had a great guide who explained everything in detail, which made the whole place come alive. The transportation was modern and surprisingly comfy, and the hotels had excellent air conditioning (a must in Egypt!). I’m still dreaming about the view from our rooftop room in Luxor. This tour blends the thrill of adventure with a serious dose of ancient mystery. I still can’t get over how massive the statues in Abu Simbel are. Felt like ants walking among giants.

Alexandria was unexpectedly charming with that Mediterranean breeze, and don’t even get me started on Kom Ombo—never thought a double temple would be so fascinating! The modern buses had Wi-Fi, and the cruise boat felt like a floating boutique hotel. We even managed to squeeze in a camel ride and a spicy plate of koshari. 🐫🌞

Giant Pharaoh Statues and Delicious Dates in the Middle of Nowhere The size of the Abu Simbel temples is just bonkers. How on Earth did they carve that stuff without power tools? We took a super early morning ride through the desert to catch the sunrise over the temples—it was totally worth the 4:00 a.m. wake-up. We were treated to cold juice and warm smiles at every hotel. Our room in Aswan had a balcony over the Nile and I swear I saw a crocodile 🐊 (probably wasn’t, but it adds to the story). Egypt, you’re full of surprises!

Cruising the Nile While Watching Ancient Temples Drift by Slowly My favorite part was sailing from Edfu to Kom Ombo with a drink in hand, just soaking up history from the sun deck. There’s something magical about gliding down the Nile and spotting little villages and giant ruins like it’s no big deal. The cabins on the cruise were lush—soft beds, great bathrooms, and panoramic windows. Edfu Temple was an unexpected highlight—our guide made Horus feel like an old friend. Nights on the boat were peaceful, and mornings were filled with strong Egyptian coffee and laughter.

Wowed by the Library in Alexandria and the Seafood at the Harbor Alexandria surprised me the most. I expected some ruins and a beach, but the new Library of Alexandria? Just stunning. Also, we ate fresh grilled fish right by the water with seagulls flying over and I swear it’s the best fish I’ve ever had. 🐟🌊 The city had a different energy than the rest of the tour—coastal, intellectual, breezy. The trip gave us a great mix of city chaos, desert silence, and riverside peace

The Pyramids of Giza Were Even More Massive Than I Imagined Nothing can prepare you for standing in front of the pyramids. The scale is unreal. We took a short camel ride and got the best panoramic shot of the three big pyramids. Our driver was super chill and made sure we had cold water and good music the whole day. I still can’t believe how old those stones are. We also saw the Sphinx, which looked right at me like it had secrets to tell. The museums in Cairo were packed with gold, statues, and mummies—so cool and weird!

Abu Simbel’s Temples Are Carved With Power and Precision We took a flight to Abu Simbel and the second we landed, I felt the desert heat and excitement kick in. The temples were unreal—like walking into a Hollywood movie set except it’s all real. The carvings are so deep and bold they look like they were made yesterday. The sound and light show at night gave me goosebumps. Seriously, it’s mind-blowing that people built this with hammers and patience.

From Papyrus to Pharaohs, This Trip Was Packed With Stories If you’re a history nut like me, you’ll love this tour. Each site had something new to teach—from how the ancients made papyrus in Cairo to the stories of the gods at Kom Ombo. We even learned how they removed brains during mummification (yikes, but fascinating). The hotels were polished and comfortable with great food—don’t skip the falafel at breakfast! Every step of the way we were laughing, sweating, and learning. 🇪🇬❤️

Sunset Over the Nile With Dates and Tea in Aswan Was a Vibe The vibe in Aswan? Chill with a capital C. We had sunset tea on a terrace overlooking the Nile with the sound of boats and birds in the background. 🌅 I bought some handmade spices and scarves at the local market, and even haggled a little (poorly, but fun). We visited the Philae Temple by boat, which felt super adventurous. There’s something about Egypt’s light—everything glows differently here.

Temple-Hopping in Luxor Was Like Visiting an Open-Air Time Machine Luxor absolutely blew my mind. Karnak Temple is so big I got lost between the columns—and loved every second of it! We visited the Valley of the Kings and saw King Tut’s actual tomb, which was smaller than I imagined but packed with presence. Our guide explained how everything lined up with the stars, and my brain nearly melted from the coolness. Hotels in Luxor were posh, especially the one with a pool facing the river.
