Tour Itinerary

Day (1): LUXOR / ESNA / EL HEGZ

Morning visit at 07:30am to Karnak Temple, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. It is more than a temple; Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks dedicated to the Theban gods and the greater glory of the pharaohs. Everything here is on a gigantic scale.
Transfer to the west bank, to visit the Valley of the Kings, once called the great place of Truth, the canyon now known as the Valley of the Kings is a place of death, where nothing grows on its scorching cliffs. It is a majestic domain of the Pharaohs who once lay there in great sarcophagi, awaiting immortality.
Transfer to Esna, embarkation on board of LAZULI Dahabiehs, elegant Authentic boats with two Latin sails.
Our first lunch on board, while cruising to El-Hegz.
Dinner and overnight on board.

Day (2): EL KAAB / EDFU / FAWAZA

After Breakfast, sailing to El-Kaab to visit the tombs of the governors of the ancient city, the ruins of the temple where Hathor and Horus used to meet.
Lunch on board during the cruise to Edfu.
Visit of Edfu Temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus. The temple of Horus at Edfu’s the most completely preserved Egyptian temple. One of the last great Egyptian attempts at monument building on a grand scale, the temple dominates the west-bank town, although Edfu’s more modest structures crowd in on its enclosure wall. Modern Edfu, a centre for sugar and pottery is a very friendly place.
Barbecue on Fawaza Island and overnight on board.

Day (3): BASSAW / DJEBEL SILSILA / BESHIR

Breakfast while cruising to Bassaw, the old village of fishers on the Nile.
Stop in the small village of Bassaw, deserted by tourism. These places allow a direct contact devoid of all mercantile considerations. (Possibility to try the authentic way, that the ancient Egyptians used for fishing).
Lunch while sailing to Djebel Silsila on the west bank of the river is the Speos of Horemheb, a rock-hen chapel dedicated to pharaoh Horemheb (1323-1295BC) and seven deities, including the local god Sobek.
Visit the temple of the Horemheb era and the ancient quarry where the temple stones were extracted.
Dinner and overnight on board.

Day (4): KOM OMBO / HERDIAB

Breakfast while sailing to Kom Ombo.
Departure to visit Kom Ombo Temple dedicated to both Sobek the crocodile god and Haroeris the hawk. The temple is standing on a promontory at a bend in the Nile, where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the river bank, the temple of Kom Ombo is more precisely the dual temple of Sobek (local crocodile god) and Haroeris. The sandstone temple dates from Ptolemaic times.
Lunch while sailing to Herdiab Village, visit Herdiab village, one of the oldest villages on the Nile, maintaining the authentic ways of farming.
Last Dinner on Herdiab Island and overnight on board.

Day (5): HERDIAB / ASWAN

Breakfast on Herdiab beach, where you can swim if you like.
Lunch while sailing to Aswan.
Visit of Philae temple, Centre for the cult of the goddess Isis. This temple was moved by the UNESCO between 1972 & 1980 to save it from the Nile water. The romantic and majestic aura surrounding the Isis temple complex on the island of Philae has been luring pilgrims for thousands of years. The ruins were one of Egypt’s legendary tourist attractions.
After the visit, transfer to airport or hotel in Aswan.
