This beautiful temple complex is one of the most picturesque in all over Egypt; Philae was one of the last outposts of Egyptian religion surviving two centuries after the roman converted to Christianity. The sacred island attracted many Greek and Romans pilgrims who came to pray for healing from the mysterious Egyptian goddess ISIS.

Day 02: Abu Simbel trip from Aswan – Train back to Luxor

At early morning you will be accompanied by your tour guide to visit the most remarkable temples of Abu Simbel with their unique style, consider the largest rock cut temple in the world and the masterpieces of ancient Egypt. They reflect the glory and grandeur of ancient Egypt. Was built by Ramses the second, the most powerful and celebrated ruler of ancient Egypt, the pharaoh also known as Ramses the great was the third of the 19th dynasty of Egypt and ruled at 12 century BC for 67 years.
The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to co-operate in order to save these temples from the flood.
The gigantic rock temple of Ramses the great was cut out of the rock during the construction of the Aswan high dam and relocated to a safe place later on.
The temple was positioned in such a way that the miracle of the sun seen in the past can be experienced today. Twice a year.
The rays of the sun fall into the sanctuary and illuminate the statues of the gods and king Ramses the great.
The temple of Ramses 11 was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Hor-Akhty ,Amun-Re and Ramses himself.
The great Abu Simbel called the sun temple of Ramses 11, the temple of Queen Nefertari is also called temple of Hathor who was the wife of the sun god so in a symbolic way, the two temples, that of Ramses 11 and that of Nefertari, bring Ramses and Nefertari, Hathor and the sun temple together as one.
