Morning visit at 07:30am to the Karnak Temple, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. It is more than a temple; Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks dedicated to the Theban gods and the greater glory of the pharaohs. Everything here is on a gigantic scale.
Transfer to the west bank, to visit the Valley of the Kings (Main entry only), once called the great place of Truth, the canyon now known as the Valley of the Kings is a place of death, where nothing grows on its scorching cliffs. It is a majestic domain of the Pharaohs who once lay there in great sarcophagi, awaiting immortality.
