Morning visit at 07:30am to Karnak Temple, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. It is more than a temple; Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks dedicated to the Theban gods and the greater glory of the pharaohs. Everything here is on a gigantic scale.
Transfer to the west bank, to visit the Valley of the Kings, once called the great place of Truth, the canyon now known as the Valley of the Kings is a place of death, where nothing grows on its scorching cliffs. It is a majestic domain of the Pharaohs who once lay there in great sarcophagi, awaiting immortality.

Visit of Edfu Temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus. The temple of Horus at Edfu’s the most completely preserved Egyptian temple. One of the last great Egyptian attempts at monument building on a grand scale, the temple dominates the west-bank town, although Edfu’s more modest structures crowd in on its enclosure wall. Modern Edfu, a centre for sugar and pottery is a very friendly place.
Barbecue on Fawaza Island and overnight on board.

Stop in the small village of Bassaw, deserted by tourism. These places allow a direct contact devoid of all mercantile considerations. (Possibility to try the authentic way, that the ancient Egyptians used for fishing).

Departure to visit Kom Ombo Temple dedicated to both Sobek the crocodile god and Haroeris the hawk. The temple is standing on a promontory at a bend in the Nile, where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the river bank, the temple of Kom Ombo is more precisely the dual temple of Sobek (local crocodile god) and Haroeris. The sandstone temple dates from Ptolemaic times.

Last Dinner on Herdiab Island and overnight on board.

Visit of Philae temple, Centre for the cult of the goddess Isis. This temple was moved by the UNESCO between 1972 & 1980 to save it from the Nile water. The romantic and majestic aura surrounding the Isis temple complex on the island of Philae has been luring pilgrims for thousands of years. The ruins were one of Egypt’s legendary tourist attractions.

Unmatched Serenity on the Nile
I can’t get over how peaceful and luxurious the Lazuli King Farouk Dahabiya experience was. The boat’s beautiful design immediately made us feel at ease, and the incredible views of the Nile River made everything feel surreal. We had the opportunity to visit amazing ancient temples, which were as captivating as the boat itself. The whole experience felt so private and intimate, unlike any other Nile cruise I’ve taken before. It was a true retreat.
