Description

Experience an extraordinary vacation aboard the Lazuli Abydos Dahabiya. Embark on a journey up the Nile with Lazuli Abydos Dahabiya, renowned as one of the finest Dahabiya Nile Cruises, and immerse yourself in the authenticity and refinement of Egypt in a distinctive manner. This graceful sailboat is a modern replica of the sacred bark of the Pharaohs. The Lazuli fleet is meticulously constructed to replicate its ancestors, featuring twin-masted boats that leisurely traverse the Nile, preserving Lazuli’s signature traits: Simplicity, Luxury, and Comfort.

The Lazuli Dahabiya allows its passengers to unearth the forgotten archaeological treasures lining the Nile’s banks and interact with local communities in their villages, participating in their daily activities. Onboard, the cabins are elegantly simple yet stylish, equipped with private bathrooms.

Much of the leisure time between excursions is spent on the upper deck, where guests can contemplate the timeless landscapes conducive to dreams and meditation. Here, they can savor dishes prepared with care by the chef, accompanied by music and the soothing sounds of the riverbank, or simply bask in the joy of idleness.

As night falls, the Lazuli Dahabiya creates a different ambiance, offering dinner on deck by candlelight under the stars or on an island amidst palm trees.

Lazuli, with its attentive yet unobtrusive staff and Egypt specialists as guides, invites passengers to embark on a journey of new emotions aboard its vessels, aptly named “Golden” (in Arabic, Dahabiya means ‘Golden’). Lazuli cruises are fully privatized for couples, families, or groups of friends, offering a luxury experience that reveals the genuine and authentic Egypt.

All Dahabiyas are equipped with solar energy for onboard water and electricity, Wi-Fi internet access, DVD players, and video projectors, air conditioning, and have softened water available at all times.

Tour Itinerary

Day (1): ASWAN / HERDIAB

Pick up from a hotel or airport in Aswan, visit of Philae temple, center for the cult of the goddess Isis.
This temple was moved by the UNESCO between 1972 & 1980 to save it from the Nile water. The romantic and majestic aura surrounding the Isis temple complex on the island of Philae has been luring pilgrims for thousands of years. The ruins were one of Egypt’s legendary tourist attractions.
Transfer to the Dahabieh.
First lunch on board while cruising to Herdiab.
Dinner & overnight on board.

Day (2): HERDIAB / KOM OMBO / DJEBEL SILSILAH

Breakfast on board while cruising to Kom Ombo to visit the Temple dedicated to both Sobek the crocodile god and Haroeris the hawk.
Kom Ombo temple, is standing on a promontory at a bend in the Nile, where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the river bank, the temple of Kom Ombo is more precisely the dual temple of Sobek (local crocodile god) and Haroeris. The sandstone temple dates from Ptolemaic times.
Lunch while cruising to Djebel Silsila on the west bank of the river is the Speos of Horemheb, a rock-hen chapel dedicated to pharaoh Horemheb (1323-1295BC) and seven deities, including the local god Sobek.
Visit the temple of the Horemheb era and the ancient quarry where the temple stones were extracted.

Day (3): BASSAW / EDFU / EL HEGZ

Breakfast while cruising to Bassaw, the old village of fishers on the Nile.
Stop in the small village of Bassaw, deserted by tourism. These places allow a direct contact devoid of all mercantile considerations. (Possibility to try the authentic way, that the ancient Egyptians used for fishing).
After lunch, visit Edfu temple, dedicated to the falcon god Horus. The temple of Horus at Edfu’s the most completely preserved Egyptian temple. One of the last great Egyptian attempts at monument building on a grand scale, the temple dominates the west-bank town, although Edfu’s more modest structures crowd in on its enclosure wall. Modern Edfu, a center for sugar and pottery is a very friendly place.

Day (4): EL HEGZ / ESNA

Breakfast while cruising to Esna.
Departure by car to Luxor.
