Memphis was one of the oldest and most important cities in ancient Egypt, located at the entrance to the Nile River Valley near the Giza plateau.capital of Egypt, was originally founded by the first king, Menes, around 3100 BC. It was believed that Menes built the city with white mudbrick walls, earning it the name 'Inbw-hedj' or 'White Walls'. Over time, the city of Memphis shifted eastwards due to the changing course of the Nile River. The name ' Memphis ' is said to come from the Egyptian word 'Mennefer', which refers to the nearby pyramid complex of Pepy I.

Lunch at a Local Restaurant

*Enjoy a traditional Egyptian lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Drive to Dahshur:

Dahshur, a village located approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Cairo, is the southernmost point of the pyramid field that starts at Giza. Excavations in Dahshur have uncovered the remains of seven pyramids, along with extensive tomb complexes built for queens and nobles from Memphis until the 13th Dynasty in the Middle Kingdom. the village is also home to two well-preserved early pyramids. These pyramids, the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid , were both constructed during the reign of King Sneferu (2613-2589 BC), the founder of the 4th Dynasty. They serve as significant examples of the architectural progress that eventually led to the construction of the Great Pyramid and its counterparts in Giza.

The Bent Pyramid * was built by King Sneferu, the first ruler of Dynasty 4. It is known as "bent" because of its unusual shape caused by a change in angle during construction. The pyramid started at a 55-degree angle but was changed to 43 degrees because the weight of the blocks made it unstable. After this, the king's builders created another pyramid nearby, called the Red Pyramid .

The Red Pyramid is the tallest pyramid in Dahshur.

It gets its name from the reddish color of its stones.Originally, the pyramid was a bright white made of Tura limestone, located south of present-day Cairo. All pyramids were covered with this white limestone, which was taken for other uses in medieval times.

You may even have the opportunity to enter the Red Pyramid and explore its inner chambers if you’re up for a climb!

We didn’t expect this trip to be this good. We booked it for the pyramids but ended up loving everything else just as much. The Citadel was majestic, like something from a medieval fantasy. Old Cairo had such a peaceful energy, and we even got to light a candle in the Hanging Church. The third day in Dahshour and Memphis gave me chills—so quiet, so ancient. Our driver was kind and professional, and the car felt like a spaceship gliding through time.

  2. martha.jennings

Everybody talks about the pyramids—and yes, they’re amazing—but this trip offers so much more. We wandered through ancient churches, stood in mosques filled with sunlight, and bargained for souvenirs in Cairo’s oldest market. Every spot had its own story, and our guide brought it all to life. Even the road trip part was fun. There’s something special about watching the desert roll by while you’re chilling in a luxury van with a cold bottle of water. Just a perfect blend of fun and learning.

  3. curtis.holloway

Let me tell y’all, I’ve never been so excited about history. I thought I’d be bored by museums, but nope—the Egyptian Museum is packed with wild stuff, including real mummies and ancient bling. The Citadel gave us the best view in town, and I felt like a kid again exploring Old Cairo’s narrow alleys. The private transfer made all the difference. Not once did I feel rushed or cramped. Just good vibes, great company, and endless stories from the past.

We did this trip in May, and it was the perfect way to kick off summer. I didn’t know you could feel so pampered while walking among 4,000-year-old ruins, but here we are. The private vehicle was super comfortable—we had cold drinks, good music, and our guide made every story sound like an epic movie. Giza was unforgettable, of course, but Dahshour really hit me. Fewer crowds, deeper silence, and crazy energy. Also, the food? Egyptian falafel is next level.

  5. Jethro morris

We signed up for the history and stayed for the comfort. This trip was one of those where you keep saying “wow” every hour. From the minute we left Hurghada, everything was smooth. The pyramids were even more majestic in real life. But honestly? The surprises were what made it special—like how peaceful the Hanging Church felt, or the quiet mystery of Sakkara’s step pyramid. And our hotel was way fancier than I expected. Big comfy beds, killer breakfast, and hot showers after long dusty days? Yes, please.

  6. pearl.whitaker

This trip had us laughing, learning, and living our best travel life. We went in September, and it was the perfect weather—not too hot, just enough sun to make those pyramids sparkle. The guide had jokes for days and made even the museum fun (which I didn’t expect). The Hanging Church gave me chills—it was so quiet and beautiful. We ate local food that I still dream about and rode through Cairo like royalty. History has never been this fun.

If you ever wanted to feel like you’re time traveling but without losing your modern comforts, this is your ride. From Hurghada to Cairo, it was just the right mix of desert adventure and smooth sailing. We had cold drinks, good tunes, and a guide who knew everything from pharaohs to falafel. The best part? Standing where kings once ruled in Memphis and walking through the streets of Coptic Cairo. And oh—the bazaar was a sensory explosion. Loved every second.

  8. mary.buckley

I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for a soft bed and good service—and this trip delivered both with a bonus side of Egyptian history! The hotel in Cairo had plush pillows, hot showers, and a great view. But it wasn’t just about comfort. We were up close with the Great Pyramid, touched walls that have been there for millennia, and listened to our guide explain secrets from the tombs of Sakkara. I loved Old Cairo—it was spiritual and peaceful. Every minute of this trip was golden.

  9. bobby.hensley

One word: epic. From the comfy vehicle to the insane sights, this 3-day Cairo adventure was something else. We started at Giza with the pyramids towering over us like giants. The Sphinx? Even cooler than I thought. Then the Citadel gave us views of the whole city, and the Mosque of Mohamed Ali had stunning domes and marble. Memphis was like walking through a forgotten chapter of the world. The whole thing was smooth—no rush, no crowds, just us and the past coming alive.

  10. Loretta mccoy

We weren’t sure what to expect, but this trip blew us away! Leaving the beachy calm of Hurghada and driving into ancient Cairo in a private car with AC blasting was the best way to do it. I was especially impressed with Sakkara—those step pyramids are often overlooked but absolutely fascinating. The museum had real mummies (I got goosebumps!), and Khan El Khalili was a wild, colorful maze. Don’t get me started on the fresh juice stands. History with a side of fresh mango juice? Yes, please.

This trip blended everything I love: the open road, epic ruins, and cultural experiences you can’t find anywhere else.

We left Hurghada just before sunrise in a shiny, private car with tinted windows, fresh air, and smooth driving. It didn’t feel like a transfer — it felt like the start of an adventure.

At the Giza Plateau, I froze for a second. You just can’t prepare for the sight of the pyramids up close. The Sphinx looked like it could start talking at any moment. We explored on foot, took endless photos, and even shared a laugh with a local camel who tried to eat my hat.

On day two, we went deep into history. The Egyptian Museum had more ancient magic than a Netflix documentary, and I loved the Islamic architecture of the Citadel. The Mosque of Mohamed Ali was glowing inside, and Coptic Cairo brought a quiet spiritual feel to the day.

Khan El Khalili was a wild ride — like a maze of treasures. We got lost twice and didn’t even mind!

Ending the trip at Sakkara and Dahshour felt like leaving with a secret that most people don’t get to see.

Our family decided to go big on our winter vacation — and this trip delivered way more than we expected. We’re talking pyramids, ancient cities, luxury hotels, camel selfies, and even a bit of sand in our shoes (which was totally worth it).

The private ride from Hurghada was comfy, and the driver was great with the kids — even made a few stops for bathroom breaks and snacks. The first day was the day: Pyramids, camel rides, the Sphinx… total bucket list vibes.

The hotel we stayed in had a rooftop pool and amazing food — 10/10 comfort.

Day two took us through a journey of art, faith, and history. The Museum was packed with wild artifacts — some so detailed they looked fake! The Citadel gave us panoramic views of Cairo, and Mohamed Ali’s Mosque was serene and stunning.

The best part for me? Khan El Khalili. I’m a shopping addict and that place is heaven — especially with the handcrafted stuff and spices.

Our third day in Memphis and Dahshour was quiet, peaceful, and grounding. It felt like a calm ending to a very exciting trip.

If you’re someone who gets goosebumps from old stories and ancient stones, this 3-day trip is basically your dream come true. We left from Hurghada in the early morning in a fancy private vehicle that made the journey really pleasant — even relaxing.

Once we reached Cairo, everything kicked off with energy. The Pyramids were absolutely massive — way bigger than I imagined — and I kept looking up, totally amazed. The Sphinx was the cherry on top, carved and stoic.

Day two was packed. The Egyptian Museum alone took hours, and we barely scratched the surface. Then came the Citadel and that stunning mosque — the way the light hit the inside walls made the whole place glow. Coptic Cairo felt different — more quiet, more spiritual — and the Hanging Church had an incredible atmosphere.

Khan El Khalili was full of laughter, smells, music, and shouting shopkeepers. We bargained, laughed, and ended the day with sugarcane juice.

By the time we saw Memphis and Sakkara, I was both tired and overwhelmed by how deep Egypt’s history runs.

    Worth every step.

Imagine waking up in a beach town and going to sleep after walking through temples older than time. That was our three-day trip from Hurghada to Cairo. And yes, it was as magical as it sounds.

We left early in a comfy private SUV with leather seats and cold drinks on hand. The desert view during the drive was something else — peaceful and endless.

Day one started with a bang: Giza Pyramids! I couldn’t believe how huge they were. We even rode camels for a bit, and I’m still laughing at the photos. The Sphinx was just… powerful.

The second day was the most culturally rich. The Egyptian Museum was filled with gold, statues, and actual mummies. The Mosque of Mohamed Ali felt like a palace, and Coptic Cairo was peaceful and beautifully old.

Shopping at Khan El Khalili was fun and chaotic — I loved every second. I picked up spices, scarves, and handmade jewelry.

Day three gave us a sense of ancient calm. Memphis and Sakkara felt like sacred spaces, and Dahshour’s silence was deeply moving.

This trip is etched in my memory forever.

This trip felt like traveling back thousands of years — but with air conditioning! The private car ride from Hurghada was surprisingly smooth, and the driver was friendly and helpful. We had snacks, Wi-Fi, and enough legroom to sleep the whole way (which I did).

The pyramids on day one? Absolutely mind-blowing. I kept asking myself, “How did they build this without machines?” The Sphinx had this mysterious presence, like it’s been guarding secrets for ages.

Day two was like a full-on culture festival. The Egyptian Museum was massive, and the Citadel had views that made me stop and just stare. The Mosque of Mohamed Ali inside was calm, echoing, and so majestic. The Hanging Church felt peaceful, and Khan El Khalili was bursting with life — music, smells, color, and endless things to buy.

By day three, we thought we’d seen it all. But Memphis and Sakkara showed us the real beginnings of history, and Dahshour had fewer tourists, which gave us time to just take it all in.

Highly educational, surprisingly comfortable, and full of wow moments.

This trip was perfectly balanced. History during the day, and luxury by night.

We traveled from Hurghada in a private car with soft leather seats and a driver who pointed out cool spots along the way. Cairo welcomed us with sunshine and that buzzing energy only big cities have.

The pyramids were stunning — no words can do them justice. We spent the afternoon wandering around, followed by a chill night at a five-star hotel with the most gorgeous sunset view from the rooftop bar.

Day two was my personal favorite. The Egyptian Museum is like stepping into a movie set — so much gold, so many mummies, and stories behind every object. The mosque was peaceful and beautifully lit inside.

Coptic Cairo was deeply moving. We lit candles in the Hanging Church and walked in silence for a bit — something about it just hits different.

Khan El Khalili was a shopping carnival. I even found a hand-painted chess set for my dad!

By day three, I didn’t want to leave. Ancient Memphis and Sakkara gave us quiet moments, and Dahshour’s pyramids were an incredible finale.

I left with sand in my shoes and a full heart.

There’s a kind of magic in Cairo that you can’t explain — you just have to feel it. That’s what we discovered on this three-day adventure from Hurghada.

It started with a beautiful drive through the desert in a private vehicle that honestly felt more luxurious than any tour van I’ve been in. Clean, cold air, and even a USB charger for my phone.

At Giza, I stood still for a minute just staring at the pyramids. It’s wild to think how long they’ve been standing there. And the camel ride around the plateau? Hilarious and unforgettable.

The next day was a mix of intense knowledge and vivid colors — especially inside the Egyptian Museum and walking through Old Cairo. The mosque and citadel gave us panoramic views, and I couldn’t stop taking photos.

By the time we got to Memphis and Sakkara, I was fully in ancient explorer mode. My favorite spot? Definitely the Bent Pyramid — it has this eerie, calm energy that I’ll never forget.

Everything ran smoothly. Zero stress. Just good vibes and deep history.

Luxury Ride Ancient Vibes And A Bazaar Full Of Stories

From the second we left Hurghada, we knew this was going to be special. Our private vehicle was more like a mobile lounge — comfy seats, smooth driving, and even Wi-Fi which came in handy for the long road.

We started strong with the Pyramids and Sphinx. I’ve seen them in books all my life, but nothing compares to standing in front of them. They’re massive, majestic, and full of mystery. My kids were stunned silent (a rare miracle).

On day two, the cultural experience was next level. Between the Islamic art at the Citadel and the quiet beauty of the Hanging Church, we felt like we visited different worlds in one city. Khan El Khalili was the most fun — bargaining with local shopkeepers was a blast! We picked up handmade souvenirs and tried Egyptian coffee that was stronger than my Monday mornings.

Day three gave us quieter moments. Dahshour’s pyramids felt untouched and peaceful. We could hear the wind and nothing else.

It wasn’t just a tour. It was a journey through time, with comfort and kindness at every turn.

Okay, I have to talk about two things from this trip — the sheer size of the pyramids and the food. I mean, we signed up for a history adventure, but we weren’t expecting to eat like kings!

Day one was unreal. The pyramids literally tower over you, and standing next to the Sphinx felt like meeting a celebrity. We took about a thousand photos. Then day two hit us with even more depth — the Egyptian Museum was packed with mummies and golden treasures, and our guide explained everything so naturally that it felt like story time.

The mosque was stunning, with a glow that made you feel calm and amazed at the same time. But oh man… the street food! Especially the falafel we grabbed near Khan El Khalili bazaar — crispy, warm, and unforgettable.

Dahshour on the third day was peaceful and gave us time to reflect. My wife and I walked the grounds of the Bent Pyramid like it was our private palace.

Oh, and bring a hat — Cairo sun doesn’t play around.

There’s something surreal about stepping into the shadows of the Great Pyramids in the morning and ending the day sipping juice on a hotel rooftop. That’s exactly what this 3-day Cairo trip offered us. We came from Hurghada expecting just some sightseeing, but what we got was a rich, layered journey through time.

The private vehicle was a dream — spacious, modern, with cold AC and a courteous driver who made the long drive pleasant. Once we got to Cairo, it was go-time. Day one blew our minds with the sheer size and mystery of Giza. The Sphinx felt like it was watching us the entire time.

Day two was packed with culture and color. The Citadel had epic views of the city, and the Mosque of Mohamed Ali was glowing inside. I never thought I’d enjoy a museum so much, but the Egyptian Museum was full of stories and surprises.

We ended our trip with a deep dive into ancient ruins at Memphis and Sakkara. Each site felt like opening a time capsule. The Red Pyramid at Dahshour was a personal favorite — no crowds, just silence and awe.

Best part? Everything was private, well-organized, and on our time. No crowds, no stress, just wonder.

This wasn’t just a tour — it was an adventure layered with discovery, comfort, and a few surprises along the way. We booked it for our anniversary in February 2025 and were completely blown away by the attention to detail.

Our driver picked us up right on time in a brand-new SUV with Wi-Fi — seriously! The drive to Cairo was smooth, and the desert views made it surprisingly scenic.

Once we arrived, every moment felt curated. We loved the balance between famous landmarks like the Giza Pyramids and hidden gems like Sakkara and Dahshour. Walking through the Egyptian Museum was like flipping through pages of history with someone whispering secrets in your ear. Our guide was that good.

The Hanging Church was peaceful and inspiring, while Khan El Khalili gave us the chaotic energy we needed to end the day with a bang.

And let’s not forget the little things — cold water always available, plenty of breaks, and photo stops wherever we wanted. Top-tier service.

What a wild and wonderful ride this trip was! I joined with my two best friends, and we laughed pretty much the whole way through — mostly at our camel-riding attempts on the first day next to the Giza Pyramids. Trust me, those animals have personalities!

Our private car ride from Hurghada to Cairo was super chill — honestly, I napped most of the way thanks to how smooth it was. We stayed in this gorgeous boutique hotel that had a rooftop restaurant with stunning views of the Nile.

Coptic Cairo on day two was peaceful and eye-opening. We lit a candle in the Hanging Church and took our time through the old streets. The bazaar later was chaotic in the best way — we bargained like pros by the end of it.

By day three, I didn’t want it to end. The Red Pyramid in Dahshour was surreal, like being in an Indiana Jones movie.

Also… Egyptian tea? Totally obsessed now.

  39. coltonhayes

Okay, so if you told me I’d be walking inside actual pyramids and roaming through thousand-year-old churches while sipping cold juice from a luxury hotel lounge in one trip, I would’ve laughed. But yep, that’s what happened!

From the first second we left Hurghada, the ride felt like a road trip with comfort cranked up to eleven. No stress, just enjoying the changing landscapes till we reached Cairo.

The highlight for me? The second day. Seeing the golden treasures in the Egyptian Museum and then climbing up to the Citadel of Saladin felt like jumping between time periods. Mohamed Ali’s Mosque was next-level beautiful — the chandeliers alone are worth the trip.

We had plenty of time to rest in between, and our hotel had one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever seen. I might’ve gone back for thirds.

The mix of fun, history, and comfort made this trip unforgettable. Egypt, you win.

This 3-day Cairo escape from Hurghada was more than just a sightseeing tour — it was a full-on experience. From luxury transportation to historical wonders, we felt like VIPs. The private vehicle was a life-saver; air-conditioned, clean, and super comfortable for the long drive.

We started with the iconic pyramids, and let me tell you, my jaw dropped. The Sphinx was so majestic in real life. Day two took us deep into history with the Egyptian Museum and the stunning architecture of the Citadel. I still can’t get over the interior of the Mosque of Mohamed Ali — it was glowing.

I loved Coptic Cairo. The Hanging Church was peaceful and full of meaning. And the bazaar? So lively! We laughed, bargained, and tried the best falafel I’ve ever tasted.

Our final day visiting Memphis and Sakkara brought the ancient city back to life. The pyramids in Dahshour were less crowded, which made it feel even more personal.

And shoutout to the guide who made every site come alive with stories. Highly engaging!

We took the 3-day trip from Hurghada to Cairo and I still can’t believe how much we experienced in such a short time. From the moment we left Hurghada in a comfortable, modern private vehicle, everything felt smooth and relaxed. The first day at the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx was simply breathtaking. Seeing these ancient wonders in person is something that pictures just can’t prepare you for.

What I really loved was how flexible everything was. We weren’t rushed, and we got to explore at our own pace. Our hotel was luxurious, way beyond our expectations, with a perfect view of the city skyline at night.

The second day was packed with rich culture — the Egyptian Museum blew me away with how much history it holds, and visiting the Citadel of Saladin and the Hanging Church made me feel like I stepped into a history book. The Khan El Khalili Bazaar added a colorful touch, and let’s just say I did a little too much shopping.

By day three, I thought I’d seen it all, but then came Memphis, Sakkara, and Dahshour. That Red Pyramid is a beast — and totally worth the climb.

If you’re into ancient history, good food, and a little bit of desert adventure, this trip is for you.
